Electronic Surveillance Video Suspect in Child Molestation in Daly City, CA

Daly City police are searching for a man who appeared in surveillance video this week and could be connected to the molestation of a 10-year-old girl.

The girl was at a counseling appointment in an office building near the Serramonte Mall this week, when her therapist let her go to restroom alone and that’s when she was attacked.

The uncle of the victim said the girl’s therapist let her walk down a hall to the shared restroom, but as she unlocked and opened the door a man came up behind her.

“(He) followed her in, whereupon he sexually assaulted her, and then exited, and left,” said Daly City police detective Ron Harrison.

Surveillance video taken from the nearby mall showed the suspect crossing the street to the shopping plaza and then appearing on store surveillance at a Ross.

The young victim reported the assault immediately and the man was gone from the store when police arrived.

“We just want to get this person caught,” said the girl’s uncle, who asked not to be named to protect his niece. “(She’s a) very, very, very strong young lady.”

The girl’s attacker is described as a slender Chinese man, between 18 and 25 with a mustache and many facial moles. He walks with a limp and may be developmentally disabled.

Police are especially concerned because the man was seen in the building before the attack and a tenant reported that someone tried the door while she was in the restroom.

“We have notified everyone in the building of the incident, we have shown them still photographs of the person of interest,” Harrison added.

The victim’s family wasn’t in the office to accompany the girl and questions why she was sent to the bathroom alone.

“Having three daughters myself, I would not let that happen,” the girl’s uncle said.

The suspect may have been a passenger in a tan car, possibly a Honda or Toyota, with an elderly Chinese woman driving.
