Richmond police have made an arrest in connection with a suspicious fire at a vacant home early Wednesday morning.
Police say an officer spotted smoke in the area of Ashland Avenue and Virginia Avenue around 2 a.m. When he checked it out, he found a burning house along the 100 block of Virginia Avenue. The blaze caused significant damage to the home.

Firefighters put out a smaller fire in the same house the night before.
Police say investigators identified Mark R. Bush, 34, as a suspect. He was taken into custody and interviewed at the police station on Wednesday. Officers later charged him with two counts of arson.
