Missing Person Family Celebrates Missing Madison County Teen’s Birthday

It’s been nearly two months since a Madison County teen disappeared. On Monday her absence was especially hard as loved ones celebrated her 19th birthday.

Dozens of family members gathered on Monday and sent messages into the air, all in hopes of bringing Brookelyn Farthing back home.

“We want Brooke home, we love her,” said Brookelyn’s grandmother, Bonnie Foster.

Since Brookelyn went missing everyday, every hour, every minute has been a struggle for family. However, perhaps no moment was as difficult as her birthday.

“Happy birthday, you are loved by many,” said Brookelyn’s stepfather, Randall Walker.

Brookelyn’s family came together for her golden birthday. Since Brookelyn’s wasn’t there, they let off pink and yellow balloons symbolizing her favorite color, her golden birthday, and her memory. Each balloon was specially made by family who wrote a note on the side.

“Their heart, what they felt in their heart for Brooke. Some wrote to god and asked to bring Brooke home others wrote a message straight to Brooke,” said Walker.

However they were written, whomever they were from, the words echoed a single message. “We want you home Brooke. We miss you, we love you, there’s nothing in this world to keep you away from us Brooke,” said Walker.

Her family refuses to stop searching, and asks the community to do the same. “We do not want this to be swept under the rug and let go. This isn’t just my granddaughter, it could be yours,” said Foster.

Brookelyn was last seen on June 22nd at a home in Berea. The night she went missing, the house was destroyed by a fire.

“Someone out there knows something, why they have not come forward? I don’t know why,” said Walker.

Now family is looking for the truth, for some sort of closure. As each heart wrenching moment passes, they remember why they are fighting and never forget the girl they miss so much.

“Brooke is never going to be erased, Brooke is here. She’s in our hearts and we will always hold hope out that Brooke will come home,” said Walker.

Brookelyn’s family has organized a bass fishing tournament fundraiser on august 24th at Lake Linville, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration will be held from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. that morning. For more information contact John Crane at 859-985-9273.

The money from the last fundraiser will be used to put up five billboards for Brookelyn across Madison County. The family is also working on making a reward.

If you have any information on where Brookelyn is, or what happened to her, you are asked to call Kentucky State Police.
