Wrongful Death Composite Sketch Released in Lexington Homicide

Lexington police have released a composite sketch of someone they want to speak to in connection with an assault at a Lexington home on Friday that is now being investigated as a homicide after the victim passed away.

The victim, 74-year-old Tom Rogers, was discovered by his wife. He passed away Friday night at UK Hospital. Crime scene detectives were at a home on Tishoff Drive most of Friday night, and returned early Saturday morning to continue the investigation into what lead to the crime. Police say there is no sign of forcible entry, and that several valuable items are missing.

“He had been there for quite some time and I just maybe saw him occasionally come out and check his mailbox, just normal everyday activities,” says Benjamin, a neighbor who did not want to provide his last name.

Around 5:30 p.m. Friday, police got a 911 call. When they showed up, they found Rogers suffering from what appeared to be assault wounds. He was taken to UK Hospital with life-threatening injuries, but according to the coroner’s report, he was pronounced dead moments after arriving.

“It is very shocking,” says Benjamin.

Detectives continue to investigate what happened, hoping to figure out who killed Rogers and why.

“We would all like to know everyone is concerned, concerned for him and his family and it is a tragic situation,” says Benjamin.
