Private Detective, Former Grant County Band Dir. Sentenced to 10 Years for Sex with Student

A former Grant County band director, who admits having sex with a 14-year-old student, was sentenced to 10 years behind bars Monday in Kenton County.

Kenneth Owens made a plea deal in Grant County court entering the guilty plea to rape, sodomy and sexual abuse.

Prosecutors said Owens had sex with at least two young women.

In addition to prison time, he will lose his teaching license and will have to register as a sex offender.

Owens will be sentenced in Grant County on other charges in April.

Updated: Monday, March 31 2014, 07:04 AM CDT A 43-year-old Pensacola man has been arrested for trying to meet a minor, with the intentions of having sex. Sex crimes investigators with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department arrested James Olshefskie on March 28. He is charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, among other things Investigators say Olshefskie sent them photos of a “pornographic nature.” Olshefskie thought he was talking to a female child.
