Wrongful Death Law Grad Gets Life in Danville Woman’s Tourture Death

A University of Florida law school graduate has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the torture and death of his girlfriend, Kentucky native Danielle Thomas.

35-year-old Jason Bohn’s sentencing was announced Tuesday in a Queens courtroom. Bohn was convicted of first-degree murder in March.

The trial evidence included a voicemail recording in which 27-year-old Danville native Danielle Thomas begged for her life. Authorities believe she accidentally dialed a friend’s number as she was being beaten and strangled in June 2012. Her body was found in her New York residence, in a bathtub filled with ice.

Thomas had moved from Danville to NYC for college and was dating Bohn while she worked there as a financial analyst at WeightWatchers.

Officials say Thomas died of blunt force trauma to the neck and torso.

When Thomas’ body was found, police also discovered two handwritten notes.

According to the prosecutor, one read: “It was an accident, it was an accident, it was an accident … I had been drinking and I was drunk when I got home … She was already asleep … I woke up and there was fighting between us … When I woke up again she was unconscious … I am sorry.”

The other read: “Dani, I will love you forever.”

Court documents state Bohn acted in an “especially cruel and wanton manner” and intended to “torture” the victim.

Bohn’s lawyer claimed his client suffered from “extreme emotional disturbance.”
