Private Detective, Prison Employee Accused of Smuggling Contraband

A Luther Luckett Correctional Complex employee was arrested in Jefferson County Sunday and charged with conspiracy to traffic in controlled substances after officials say he was smuggling narcotics and “other dangerous” contraband into the facility.

Officials say Robert Massie was hired at LLCC in 2011 and was working as a maintenance and operations technician for the prison.

Officials say an investigation began on Friday based on suspicion that Massie was bringing contraband into the prison. They say the investigation led by the Kentucky Department of Corrections Internal Affairs branch revealed that Massie had, indeed, been bringing narcotics and other dangerous contraband into LLCC.

Officials did not clarify what those other dangerous items were.

Massie is being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. He was also charged with bribery and official misconduct.

Louisville Metro Police Department narcotics detectives, the FBI, and the Oldham County Police Department assisted DOC in making the arrest.
