Missing Person Update on Missing Boy, Father Arrested and Says Ex-Wife Lied

The search is over for a missing six-year-old boy and his father. Stevie Saylor Jr, 29, was arrested Tuesday in Rockcastle County. He went to jail for a laundry list of charges after safely returning his son in Madison County.

Among other charges, Stevie Saylor Jr. was arrested for unlawful imprisonment, wanton endangerment and assault. He is accused of holding his ex-wife captive at gunpoint, then running off with their son. However, he said none of that is true.

The emotions were overwhelming as the little boy returned to his mother’s loving arms. “I am so happy right now, I can’t even cry anymore. At first it was just tears, I couldn’t get to him fast enough,” said the child’s Mother, Kristen Saylor.

There were tears of joy after a confusing few days. Kristen said it all started in Rockcastle County when her ex-husband, Stevie Saylor Jr, pistol whipped her and held her at gunpoint against her will. She said she escaped on Monday, however her ex-husband allegedly followed her to a home in Berea, slammed into her car and took off with their son and his daughter.

“I would never put my kids in harm or danger. I love my children,” said Stevie. From behind bars Stevie told LEX18 News his ex-wife was lying.

“We left out of fear, you know what I am saying,” said Stevie. Instead, he said he is afraid of his ex-wife because she is on drugs and unstable.

Still, Berea Police and Kentucky State Troopers spent around 24 hours searching for Stevie until he finally turned the little boy over to his grandmother Tuesday afternoon. Then, as Stevie said he was on his way to turn himself in, he was arrested in Rockcastle County and charged with a half dozen crimes.

“I have not been hiding anywhere. I have been all over town, I have been on facebook. I drove straight to my moms and dropped my son off,” said Stevie.

“My son getting railroaded, like I said she is not telling the whole truth,” added Stevie’s Mother and the child’s Grandmother, Ruth Ann Harold.

Harold said she saw first hand that Stevie’s ex-wife was never being held captive. Whatever the truth is, this family agrees on one thing.

“The kids are fine, that’s most important,” said Harold.

Stevie is being held in the Rockcastle County Detention Center and his children are with family.
