For the second time this week, a Kentucky fire department station has burned.
Fire officials say the South Hopkins Fire Department building in Nortonville was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday. Crews from five departments took about an hour and half to get the fire under control. Officials say nobody was in the building when the fire broke out and there were no injuries.

Fire Chief Darwin Rideout said it’s too early to know what caused the fire. There were five trucks inside the building, and the chief said the loss could eclipse the $1 million mark.
Officials say volunteer fire departments from around the area will have to figure out how to pick up the slack and cover the South Hopkins district.
On Tuesday, Mount Eden Volunteer Fire Department burned in Spencer County.
