Private Detective, Group of Construction Workers Help Police Track Down Man Accused of Rape

A group of construction workers is being credited with helping police track down a man accused of holding a woman at knife-point and raping her.

Police say it happened at the Knights Inn off Newtown Pike Monday morning. A group of workers apparently heard the woman scream and they jumped into action chasing after the man she says raped her.

Right by the hotel, the men were working on the sewage line and say around mid-morning someone dropped the victim off at her hotel room.

“10 or 10:30 something like that. The lady came in with some guy in a gray truck, went to her room. About an hour later she comes out saying she has been raped,” said Charlie Day.

It was that cry for help that grabbed the men’s attention. Without hesitation, not just one, but the entire group of workers took off chasing after 24-year-old Desmond Henson, the person the victim says raped her.

“He had done walked across the building and jumped in his car,” Day said. “We almost had him, but we got his license plate number.”

Thanks to that, police were able to track Henson down at his home. They arrested him and charged him with rape.
