A truck, a handgun, ammunition, more than half a million dollars worth of drugs, four suspects and a dog were seized by Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents in connection with criminal cases in recent weeks.
On August 16, a report from a local rancher helped Douglas Border Patrol agents apprehend three illegal immigrants and seize more than 98 pounds of marijuana near Douglas, Arizona. The seizure was worth in excess of $49,000.
Willcox Border Patrol agents detained three subjects traveling in a Chrysler sedan at the Highway 90 checkpoint near Whetstone on Aug. 23. A canine unit initially alerted to the vehicle, which led agents to the confiscation of personal use marijuana, an unloaded handgun, ammunition and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office responded and arrested the driver and one of two passengers, and took possession of all items discovered. A third occupant was released.

Later that evening, agents from the Douglas Border Patrol Station responded to detection technology from a potential vehicle incursion. Once on scene, agents observed the driver fleeing from a white Ford F-250. Agents searched the vehicle and discovered 41 bundles of marijuana, valued at nearly $463,000, and a dog. Agents then conducted an extensive search of the area and found the driver. The subject was turned over for prosecution on charges of narcotics smuggling, and handed over the dog to Animal Control. The drugs and vehicle were processed for seizure in accordance with Tucson Sector guidelines.
