Many people spent their Labor Day in the pool or on the lake. That’s what one Rockcastle County couple was doing when something fell out of the sky.
It’s a Labor Day that Sam and Dana Hamilton won’t be forgetting any time soon. They were both enjoying a day off on Monday. Dana was out floating in their pool when she says she heard a whistling sound followed by a big splash next to her.
She went and got her husband Sam and they fished a piece of metal out of the pool.
The metal piece isn’t very big, but the edges of it are sharp.

“It came within inches of my head and I had actually just been in the spot that it hit. And the rate that it was coming down, and with it being metal… if it had hit me, it could have really hurt me or possibly killed me,” she said.
Now the million dollar question is what is it and what did it come off of?
The only thing the Hamiltons can think of is that it’s a piece that fell off a plane. They plan to contact the FAA in hopes of finding out.
LEX 18 sent the pictures to Mustang Aviation at Blue Grass Airport, but unfortunately, they were not able to say much about it.
