Private Detective: Reward Offered in Danville Domino’s Shooting

It’s her 21st birthday, however instead of celebrating, a Danville Domino’s employee is recovering from being shot on the job. Now Zoe Reed’s boss is offering a $2,500 reward for an arrest, and promising more security measures at his Domino’s store.

One of Reed’s friends, a former co-worker at the Domino’s on South Fourth Street, said the attack never should have happened. “It’s just not fair. It shouldn’t have happened to anyone, but especially her,” said the former Domino’s employee who wanted to remain anonymous.

Friends of Reed said she has a heart of gold and is the heart of Dominos in Danville. A place where this former co-worker feels Reed should have been better protected.

“No one deserves to be shot,” said the friend. “The fact that she was there alone, and I know she was scared, I know she was. And that’s not okay.”

Investigators said on Monday just before 10:30 p.m. the delivery driver was called away from the Domino’s to a fake address. Police said Reed was left alone at the business when she was attacked.

“When the driver came back he found her and she was still conscious and she asked for help,” said the friend.

Friends said Reed had been shot in the stomach. She was taken to a local hospital, then to University of Kentucky with life threatening injuries. Friends said after several surgeries she’s opened her eyes and is responding.

“I think it’s looking good, she’s a fighter. So, I think she will pull through,” said the friend.

Police said they have few clues as to who pulled the trigger, since there was no surveillance video. There are cameras visible in the store, however it appears they were off or not working.

The franchise owner said he’s offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest. He said he’s deeply saddened and horrified by this attack, and he’s doing all he can to help police in the investigation. He also said when the pizza place reopens there will always be more than one person working inside the business, the doors will be locked late at night and surveillance cameras will be on.

“It should have already been changed, if it changes now that’s great, but it’s a shame it took this,” said the former co-worker.

Since Reed was attacked in the apparent attempted robbery, her family started a GoFundMe page in her name. They’re asking for money to help solve this crime, and get Reed back on her feet with a lifesaving birthday gift.

“I hope that people will find it in the kindness of their heart to donate to her and help her recovery,” said the friend.

The Domino’s closed early on Tuesday and stayed closed all of Wednesday. It’s not clear when the pizza place will re-open.
