Wrongful Death Man Pleads Guilty To Killing Great Grandmother With Hammer

A Taylor County man has pleaded guilty to the brutal murder of his great-grandmother.

According to the Central Kentucky News Journal, the prosecutor in the case has recommended Jesse Durham be sentenced to four decades in prison.

Court records say Durham told police he argued with his 77-year-old great-grandmother in February 2012 and repeatedly struck her with a hammer until she died. It happened at the woman’s home on Daisy Drive in Campbellsville.

Earlier this year, Durham filed notice that he will use a mental health defense in his case.

Durham faces murder, tampering with physical evidence and theft by unlawful taking charges. Sentencing is set for Nov.7.
