Private Detective: Madison County Family Seek’s Public’s Help in Search for Wheelchair

A Madison County family wants to know what happened to their custom-made motorized wheelchair after it turned up missing this morning before a doctor’s appointment.

Leslie Burns was loading her husband into the car when she noticed the wheelchair wasn’t there. The chair had been specifically designed for her husband after a work injury left him with a rare pain disease in one of his legs.

“It’s very crucial. We waited a long time for it. It helps give him his independence,” says Burns.

The last time Leslie saw the chair was Wednesday night when they were in Irvine for a ball game. She’s speaking with the press in hope that anyone who lives off of Red Lick Road, between Berea and Irvine, to keep an eye out for the missing chair in case it fell off her SUV on the side of the road as she travelled back from the game.

The couple had planned a date night this weekend for the first time in years, something that is now impossible for the couple to do, if the chair is not returned.

“I hope someone didn’t steal it, but if they did steal it, you know, please return it no questions asked,” says Burns.

If you have seen the wheelchair, you are asked to contact the Madison County Sheriff or the Irvine police.
