Private Detective: Second Man Arrested in Connection to Robbery That Led to Winburn Standoff

A second man was arrested in connection to a robbery at a Lexington game shop for which police also arrested a man in the Winburn area Thursday afternoon after a brief standoff.

19-old Cardreus Winter was arrested in connection to two robberies at the Game Stop in the North Park shopping center featured on LEX 18 Crime Stoppers.

Police say Winter and 18-year-old Duquion Baxter robbed the store in September and, according to Winter’s arrest citation, he went back to rob the same store alone in November.

Baxter was arrested a few minutes before Winter on Thursday after a brief standoff in the Winburn neighborhood across the street from Winburn Middle.

Police say they arrived at an apartment complex to serve a warrant on Baxter, who refused to get out. A negotiator and a special unit were brought out to the scene.

The nearby schools were put on high alert and neighbors were asked to stay inside their homes, while others couldn’t drive into the neighborhood since Winburn Drive was blocked coming from Russell Cave Road.

Baxter was arrested about 30 minutes later.

On Baxter’s warrant, he is accused of shooting his brother in the hand in early November.

Baxter’s charged with first degree robbery and second degree assault.

Both men are set to appear in court on their charges later Friday.
