Fraud Investigation Franklin County Caretaker Accused of Stealing Thousands From Elderly Woman

A Franklin County woman has been indicted, accused of stealing thousands of dollars from an elderly woman she was supposed to be caring for.

Deputies say Connie Carmack was asked by her grandmother to take care of the elderly woman earlier this year. Instead, deputies say she forged the victim’s car title and sold the car, estimated to be worth about $3,500, for $250.

Investigators say she also forged nearly two dozen checks and used the woman’s ATM card for money to pay her own bills.

Carmack is accused of stealing a total of more than $10,000 from the victim. Deputies say she admitted to stealing the money for heroin.
