On Sunday in the small town of Mayslick Kentucky, a thief was stealing from people’s cars while they attended church services.
Mayslick resident, Rebecca Banks said this today: “We walked out of church and I noticed some glass on the ground. And I thought that wasn’t there when we went in and I didn’t really see the window of the van broken at first and then my two year old said “mommy, van, broke, ya know?”
As soon as she noticed her purse was gone, she began canceling credit cards and taking mental inventory of what she had lost.

While Rebecca was taking inventory the thief was filling up at a gas station down the road.
When she found out, she was furious.
“It was just so maddening because he pulls the card out of his wallet, no big deal, like it’s his…signed the receipt with a bogus name,” said Banks.
Deputies are looking into a similar break in in nearby Robertson county.
Someone found Rebecca’s purse later in a grave yard near the church. Luckily she only lost the $20 in gas and a Walmart gift card.
It’s not the money though that had Rebecca concerned.
“We hope this guy gets caught so he doesn’t do it to someone else, especially at Christmas time,” says Banks
