Missing Person Paul Kochu of Pittsburgh

The parents of Paul Kochu retraced his steps from Monday night and showed a picture of him around the area, hoping to find someone who may have seen him.

Ben Monito, Kochu’s roommate, said they were watching Monday Night Football at Smokin’ Joe’s on East Carson Street. Monito said his roommate was intoxicated and went home around midnight.

“He called us a little bit after saying that he was cut, he cut himself on broken glass or something, so we came home, helped clean that up and got the bleeding to stop,” Monito said. “At the time, he was really emotional.”

Monito said Kochu seemed fine by the time his friends left the house on Wharton Street.

“They were going to go out and get something to eat, and Paul didn’t want to go, and when they came back, he was gone,” said Kochu’s mother, Ellen.

His keys, wallet and cellphone are gone, but his car is still there, Ellen Kochu said.

Pittsburgh police have been unable to locate the young man.

“They looked at his phone records, they looked into his purchasing on his debit cards and credit cards, they had bloodhounds out this afternoon to try to find his scent, but it all turned up with nothing,” said Kochu’s father, Jack.

Paul Kochu graduated from the Duquesne University School of Nursing. His mother said he recently completed orientation at Allegheny General Hospital.

Kochu is described as 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who has seen Kochu is asked to call 911 or call the police bureau’s Missing Persons office at 412-323-7141.

“He’s a very loving, caring person, and we’re just hoping somebody knows something or somebody saw him and can give any kind of help they can,” Ellen Kochu said.
