Wrongful Death Lexington Police Investigate Homicide On Johnston Road

Lexington Police are investigating a deadly shooting on a rural Fayette County.

On Monday night investigators were called to the 600 block of Johnston Road, between Paris Pike and Bryan Station Road, at around 7:30 p.m.

The Fayette County Coroner said a young man was found dead inside the back passenger seat of a car on the road.

“What we have found is a what appears to be a hispanic male, I haven’t made an identification yet. We are still in the process of gathering some information as well as looking at evidence. This male subject appears to have died suffering gunshot wounds. At this point I don’t know how many wounds, but it appears to be multiple,” said Fayette County Coroner, Gary Ginn.

At around 7:45 p.m. when LEX 18 crews arrived to the scene, there were two cars and one suv in the middle of the road, surrounded by a crowd of people.

On Monday night, it was not clear if the other cars and people standing at the scene were involved, however officers took them away in police cruisers.

The Mobile Crime Lab and the canine unit spent hours on scene, and shut down a portion of Johnston Road.

By late Monday night, investigators said they were still trying to identify the victim, and piece together what happened in this homicide.
