A man is recovering after he was shot during a home invasion Friday night. Now neighbors are weighing in on how they feel, and what they think needs to be done.
Throughout Saturday, everything was peaceful and calm at Eastridge Apartments off Alumni Drive, but Friday night was a different story. A man was rushed to the hospital after he was shot in the arm following a home invasion and brief argument, according to police.
“I was really surprised because nothing like that usually happens here,” said a neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous.
Some neighbors said they still feel safe, even after Friday night’s commotion.
“This is just a one incident and this doesn’t happen on a regular basis, so I feel safe,” said a neighbor.
Others say they do take safety precautions while on the property and will continue to be on alert.
“I don’t walk in the back part of the apartments because they don’t have enough lights out there,” said the neighbor.
She added some of the responsibility belongs to the supervisors and landlord, and that the application process should be examined more closely. The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
If you have any information on the shooting, you’re asked to call police.
