Wrongful Death Family of Murder Victim Turns to Public for Information

Five people were shot this past father’s day at Douglass Park during the city’s Dirt Bowl Tournament. That shooting turned into a homicide investigation when a man died from his injuries four days later.

Now family of the the victim, Kwame El-Amin is turning to the public for help.

The shooting happened during the first night of the city’s Super Sunday Dirt Bowl basketball tournament. Several police were in the crowd when several shots were fired around 9 that evening. Lexington police say four of those victims were treated and released that night.

Unfortunately, El-Amin who was simply sitting inthe park watching the game, succumbed to his critical wounds. Now his family is speaking out and asking the public for information.

“He was known for supporting community events and on this day, the first day of the summer Dirt Bowl, he was front and center supporting our youth,” said the victim’s sister, Ahenewa El- Amin.
