Two of the three men men indicted in the April murder of a UK student have been arraigned in a Fayette County Courtroom.
20-year-old Efrain Diaz Jr. and 18-year-old Justin Smith, as well as 17-year-old Roman Gonzalez Jr. were indicted on charges of murder and first degree robbery in connection with the death of 22-year-old Jonathan Krueger. Thursday, through his attorney, Efrain Diaz pleaded not guilty. Justin Smith appeared briefly via video and also pleaded not Guilty in Krueger’s death.

Krueger, a junior at UK, was walking on East Maxwell Street with a friend when he was shot multiple times during a robbery.
17-year-old alleged triggerman, Roman Ganzalez Jr., will be arraigned next Friday. Smith’s attorney requested a discovery hearing.
Along with the murder and first degree robbery charges, Justin Smith has also been charged with tampering with physical evidence and fleeing or evading police.
