Private Detective: Powell Co. Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Wanton Endangerment Charges

The Powell County woman accused of padlocking two children in a hot room for hours entered a not guilty plea in court Friday.

Officials say they went to a trailer earlier this week in Clay City looking for a man, when they spotted two children through a crack in the door.

They broke down the door and found an 8 year old and 12 year old locked inside with no air conditioning or running water. Their mother, Sarah Mullins, left a note telling them to text her when they woke up.

Mullins is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and wanton endangerment. Police say meth precursors were also found in the home.

She will be back in court July 28.
