Deputies are investigating a robbery-turned-homicide that happened at a convenience store early Monday morning in Davidson County.

A call came in just after 7 a.m. about a robbery in progress at the Exxon located at 4222 W. Center St. Extension.
A man was killed in the incident. He was later identified by the sheriff’s office as Sajjad Nawaz, an employee of the convenience store.
A white Lexus SUV belonging to Nawaz was stolen from the scene and later located at Center United Methodist Church in Lexington.

A male suspect was taken into custody in Lexington, according to authorities. They are not looking for any more suspects at this time.
The man taken into custody was later identified as Donald Eugene Greene, 48, of Bluefield, W.Va. Greene has been charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and larceny of a motor vehicle.
