An argument between a Rockcastle father and daughter turned violent. with the young woman allegedly stabbing her father.
The Rockcastle County Sheriff says that Shawana Burkhart stabbed her 71-year-old father, Orville Burkhart, with a steak knife several times Tuesday afternoon.
The sheriff says after the attack the victim was able to leave the house and walk two to three hundred feet to a neighbor’s house where they then called 911. The victim was removed by local EMS and then flown to the University of Kentucky because of the seriousness of his injuries.

As for Shawana, the 37-year-old woman is now at the Rockcastle County jail where she’s facing an attempted murder charge.
Although the sheriff doesn’t know what caused the argument between the two, he says its not typically the kind of call they respond to in that area.
“It’s kind of an upscale neighborhood. Some of the houses there are probably the most expensive in the county,” says Sheriff Peters.
The sheriff says Burkhart was not cooperating with the investigation and she should be in court sometime later this week.
