Private Detective: Laurel County Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A man in Laurel County is lucky to be alive after being stabbed in the side of his head. Now, a family member is now facing an attempted murder charge.

It was at his mother’s home on Tackett Spur Road in Laurel County, where police say Christopher Robinson tried to kill his stepfather.

“Apparently an argument had taken place because this man had been asked to leave his stepdad’s residence,” said Deputy Gilbert Acciardo.

Instead of leaving Friday night, deputies say Robinson threatened to kill his stepdad and then acted on it.

“He went back in the back bedroom, pulled out a boot knife and really did a lot of damage to this guy’s head with his boot knife and fled the scene,” said Acciardo.

Before he left, police say he grabbed a cell phone from the house and jumped in the car with a friend a few miles away on I-75. Deputies say they used the cell phone to track Robinson, all the way to a shopping center on 192,  where they arrested him just two hours after the stabbing.

“Anybody that could do that to someone they knew, just think what they could do to anyone else. So we definitely had to get him into custody as soon as possible,” said Acciardo.

Investigators say the victim is doing surprisingly well.

“He was really hurt severely, the injury was all the way down to his skull. But he was talking to officers at the scene so he really held up real well,” said Acciardo.

Deputies say they’ve been looking for Robinson for more than two months. He was serving time on home incarceration when he cut off his ankle bracelet and didn’t return home.
