Wrongful Death Woman Charged With Plotting Mother’s Murder Asks Judge to Reduce Her Sentence

A Georgetown woman serving 25 years for plotting the murder of her mother wants to leave prison early.

In 2005, Stephanie Olson cried before a judge as he sentenced her to 25 years in prison for plotting to murder her mother, Diane Snellen. Snellen was stabbed 27 times in her Gergetown home.

Olson denied any involvement, but the jury did not believe her.

Her boyfriend at the time was convicted of carrying out the actual killing. He is serving 20 years in prison.

Olson’s attorney Brent Cox said that after 10 years in prison, Olson is saying that it isn’t as unbearable as she thought it would be, but that she would rather be on the outside.

Olson has filed a motion asking a judge to lower her sentence from 25 to 10 years. She claims that her punishment is too harsh considering the fact she didn’t carry out the crime. She also said that she has had to overcome “addiction issues” and that since she has completed training and educational programs, she believes she is deserving of a lesser sentence.
