The Scott County teacher who pleaded guilty to lesser charges after revelations of a relationship with a student will spend one year in jail. That was the sentence handed down Monday morning in the Scott County Circuit Court.

Former social studies teacher Elizabeth Alexander said she was sorry for what she did in that it was inexcusable… and she wanted to spend Christmas with her son. Her lawyers wanted probation, saying Alexander has no criminal past and said jail would do nothing to help her. The judge did not agree with that… and sentenced her to one year in jail. There is no word yet on parole eligibility.
