The Coos County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men and a woman on car theft and drug-related charges Tuesday morning.

Matthew Moore, 29; Chad Peters, 28; and Jennifer Johnson, 32; all of Coos Bay, all were charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Johnson also was charged with unlawful distribution of methamphetamine, while Peters was charged with parole violation.

Deputies stopped a red 1995 Honda Accord driven by Moore at 9:57 a.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Hollywood Lane and Grand Road, after Moore allegedly failed to obey a traffic control device.

The Honda matched a description given of a vehicle reported stolen out of Eugene on Feb. 9, according to a police statement. In addition, the license plates on the vehicle did not belong to that vehicle.

During the traffic stop, Officer Orrin Wallace of the Coquille Police Department was called in to have his drug detection dog examine the vehicle. The dog, Kara, made a positive ID for drugs, and a search of the vehicle allegedly revealed evidence of methamphetamine possession and distribution.

After their arrest, all three suspects were taken to Coos County Jail.
