Private Detective: Speedway Robbed on East New Circle

Robbers often imply that they have a gun or a weapon, but during a recent hold-up in Lexington, the robber wasn’t hiding anything.

A man went to the Speedway on East New Circle armed with a gun, which he kept pointed at the store clerk the entire time.

Surveillance video shows the robber grabbed the clerk and forced him behind the counter.

The clerk gave the robber the money from the register.

“In this circumstance where he’s actually got it pulled out, pointed right at the guy, it just kind of heightens that level of awareness, like, ‘hey this guy’s serious. He’s probably got a round chamber in there. He’s ready to do something about it if this guy doesn’t comply with what he wants,’” said Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police department.

Police want people to take a look at the robber, but also at his gun.

“A lot of people that are out on the street, that know the types of weapons that these guys carry, might recognize that semi-automatic pistol.  It’s a little bit unique; it’s black and silver and they may be able to pick that out as somebody that they know,” said Thomas.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
