Private Detective: Father of Murder Victim Sues Former Employer

The father of Logan Tipton, the little boy in Versailles who was murdered during a home invasion, has sued his former employer for firing him after the incident.

Dean Tipton’s attorney says it all comes down to 12 days of unpaid administrative leave that Mr. Tipton needed for surgery.

The nine page lawsuit was filed last week. In it, Dean Tipton claims he was discriminated against when he was fired from his employer, Montaplast, in February, causing him “severe and intentional emotional distress.”

Last year, a man with a knife broke into the Tipton home and murdered 7-year-old Logan Tipton. His father, George ‘Dean’ Tipton, was already out on medical leave after injuring his shoulder on the job. Dean re-injured his shoulder the night his son was murdered when he tackled the intruder.

Dean Tipton needed a second surgery.

The suit claims Tipton was assured his job was secure, but was later terminated.

“They were well aware that he would not be able to make it back until May 16th,” said attorney Dale Golden, “So they put a date of May 4th as his return, and of course he simply couldn’t do that as a result of the doctor’s orders.”

Montaplast released the following statement, “George Tipton has been advised by the company several times that when he is released by his attending physicians to return to work, his job at Montaplast is here for him.”

Tipton’s attorney says he doesn’t think he would want to go back after all this.

When Dean Tipton was terminated, he also lost the health insurance he needed to get the surgery, thankfully, a local doctor stepped up to take care of it.
