Drug Dog Sweep Finds Meth in Salem, Oregon Man’s Car

A K-9 team found more than $2,000 worth of meth and two guns inside a wanted felon’s car.

Police pulled over 33-year-old Leonardo Leija late Saturday night near the intersection of Southwest Fellows Street and Eckman Court. He was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant.

According to police, drug detection K-9 “Jack” let officers know something suspicious was inside the car.

During a search, police found two loaded, semi-automatic firearms – one of them stolen. They also found more than two ounces of meth, scales, and packaging material.

Leija was booked into the Yamhill County Jail on the felony warrant, and could face additional charges of felon in possession of firearms, first-degree theft, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon, and meth possession.
