A Lexington church is in need of help after the pastor woke up Friday morning to find the building had been burglarized and thousands of dollars worth of electronics were stolen.
A woman who lives just across the street from New Day Community Church on Martin Luther King Boulevard said she heard the sound of glass breaking early in the morning.
She first called police, then Pastor Lucian Booker.

“She told us that they broke in and the window was busted but I didn’t expect to see what I saw once I got here,” said Booker.
Booker said the thief took off with two digital cameras, two tripods, and a keyboard worth more than $2,000.
“It’s probably 6 feet long. It’s a pretty heavy keyboard so I don’t know how they took it and ran down the street with it but they did,” said Booker.
The pastor said he believes after the person grabbed the keyboard and the cameras, they unlocked the front door and left that way.
When police showed up… the front door was still unlocked.
Booker said it’s hard to imagine what kind of person would do this to a church.
“Wow. I mean my heart was broken to see that. But for somebody to do this… there aren’t a whole lot of words. It’s just simply somebody has issues,” said Booker.
He said it’s even harder to think about the cost of replacement.
“We just want the stuff back. We’re a smaller ministry so whenever you have to deal with stuff like this… you feel the blow,” said Booker.
