According to State Police, a Shepherdsville officer saw a man matching the description that was given, walking in the vicinity of the initial call.  When Officer Johnson attempted to make contact with the subject, identified by KSP as Shawn L. Gabaree, he immediately started running away.

The officer chased the subject on foot giving him multiple verbal commands to stop.  Both men ran into a nearby subdivision. Neighbors and witnesses who were interviewed said  Gabaree ran into a pond and drowned.

A Louisville Metro Police Department dive team was called to the scene to recover the body.
