The Laurel County Sheriff is warning businesses in the area about a phone scam.
Police say the caller claims to be from a utility company, and calls himself Jerry Nolan.
He is allegedly telling businesses that a payment was not processed properly, and they owe money for their utilities.

Police say he demands victims pay these so-called bills with cash. In fact, one motel was informed they owe $11,000.
The calls have been coming from 1-800-662-6030
The sheriff says to not answer if this number calls.
