Wrongful Death Bond Set for Suspect in Shooting Death of Marine

A man accused in the robbery and murder of Lexington Marine Jonathon Price appeared in Fayette County Circuit Court Tuesday.

Dawan Mulazim appeared in court for a bond hearing. Mulazim’s alleged co-conspirator, Quincinio Canada, was not in court. Mulazim and Canada are accused of the 2014 shooting death of Price. Investigators say Price and his wife, Megan, left Austin City Saloon when they were approached by the pair. Both Jonathan and his wife were shot during an attempted robbery.

Two people testified during the hearing, including a detective who worked the murder scene that night. After listening to the testimony of the detective and a pre-trial officer, the judge set Mulazim’s bond at $100,000 citing the nature of the case as well as the defendant’s safety as mitigating factors in the decision.

Canada’s bond hearing is scheduled for next Wednesday.
