Private Detective: Expensive Items Stolen From Cabela’s

Several months ago, two men stole some high dollar items from the Cabela’s in Lexington. Police are now hoping the public can help them find some leads.

Police say the two men shoplifted depth finders, which are used for boating and fishing. They cost several hundred dollars apiece.

“These two guys were able to successfully remove the security tags and conceal them before getting out of the store,” said Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department.

Police have surveillance images of the two men.

“He’s got a lot of distinctive tattoos on his arms, on his forearms, all the way from his elbow down to his wrist,” Thomas described one of the men. “Hopefully, someone out there will know these two guys, know that they’re friends or that they’re paired together, and will call us and tell who they are.”

Police say the two men could likely try and sell the stolen depth finders.

“If you believe it was stolen, and you purchase it, if you have a reasonable belief that you’re getting too good of deal on this thing, there’s a good chance you could be caught or even charged with receiving stolen property,” said Thomas.
