Wrongful Death Man Accused in Murder of Northern KY Couple Appears in Court

Prosecutors continues to build their case around the man accused of murdering a Northern Kentucky couple and dumping their bodies in two different counties.

The prosecutors are not just focusing on the two murder charges that Craig Pennington is facing, they are also focusing on the counts of robbery, kidnapping, tampering with physical evidence, theft, wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening, and abuse of a corpse. A new charge was added Wednesday, felon in possession of a handgun.

Investigators say that Pennington shot his landlords, Bobby Jones and Crystal Warner, following a rental dispute back in July.

The families of the Northern Kentucky couple tell LEX 18 that Pennington was behind on paying his bill. Officers say that after the shooting, Pennington dumped Jones’s body in Clark County and Warner’s in Bath County.

Jones’s body was not found until August and Warner’s was not found until November.

The family says that hearing the charges read in court Wednesday gave them the power to keep fighting for justice as investigators continue to gather evidence in the case.

Jones’s body was returned to his family, but the body of Crystal Warner is still with medical examiners in Tennessee.

The family tells LEX 18 that they will be back in court for Pennington’s next appearance scheduled on May 17th.

“We are here to get justice. For us, for Bob and Crystal, he took their voice and so now we are standing up for them,” the family told LEX 18.
