A Topeka man faces life in prison after being convicted of child sex crimes.
A Shawnee County jury returned a guilty verdict Thursday for Birgilio Castro-Moncada, 55. He was convicted on counts of rape and aggravated indecent liberties, both with a child under the age of 14.
The trial lasted four days.

Sentencing is set for May 4th. He faces a sentence of life in prison with no possibility of parole for at least 25 years.
Shawnee Co. District Attorney Mike Kagay commended the work of Deputy DA Dustin Curry and Assistant DA Roger Luedke who prosecuted the case. He also recognized the Topeka Police Department for its work on the investigation.
