Accident Reconstruction Teenage Girl Killed in Montgomery County Crash

One person has died following a multi-vehicle accident involving a semi carrying lumber that shut down a Montgomery County Road Thursday morning.

It happened soon before 8:00 a.m. on Levee Road, also known as Kentucky Highway 11.

The coroner confirms that a 16-year-old girl has died. The girl’s mother was also injured in the crash.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says it was a three-vehicle injury accident involving a semi carrying lumber. The truck was owned by Hogsten Trucking in Hurricane, West Virginia.

The road has been shut down as crews clear the scene.

A Resource Officer from the Montgomery County school system is on the scene.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, but police tell LEX 18 that she was a student at Montgomery County High School and that her mother is Tammy Smith. Montgomery County Schools have sent a letter home notifying students of the death.
