Wrongful Death Suspects in Shooting Death of Teen Plead Not Guilty

Four people arrested in connection to the shooting death of a Bardstown teenager were back in court this week.

Shelmontay Adams, Alexis Gribbins, Torique Griffin, and Damion Murphy all entered not guilty pleas. Police say that the suspects conspired to rob 17-year-old Cameron Williamson during a drug deal.

“There’s no sympathy in their eyes, there’s no remorse,” said Williamson’s mother, Crystal Bartley.

The four appeared separately, but the public defender representing them asked the judge to lower their bonds from $1 million, that request was denied.

“They took my son’s life. I don’t feel no remorse either for theirs,” said Bartley.

Police say that Gribbins and Murphy picked up Williamson and drove to the parking lot of a Bardstown strip mall the morning of the incident. Officials say that Adams and Griffin were also there. Adams told police that he accidentally shot Williamson during a struggle.

The suspects are charged with complicity to murder and robbery.

They will be back in court on January 12 for a pre-trial. Their trial is scheduled for January 23.
