CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
A Charlotte man was arrested on Monday, accused of insurance fraud.
Robert Garcia, 27, was charged with 10 counts each obtaining property by false pretense and insurance fraud.

Between 2009 and 2012, Garcia claimed foreign objects in his food at various Charlotte restaurants caused damage to his mouth, N.C. Department of Insurance criminal investigators said. According to investigators, Garcia filed claims with the businesses’ insurance companies and provided fraudulent documentation regarding the dental work. He received more than $5,000 from the insurance companies to settle the claims, the Department of Insurance said.
Garcia was placed under a $75,000 secured bond.
