Missing Persons Jorry Palm Missing from Akron

A Niles woman is heartbroken because her son and only child, Jorry Palm, 28, has been missing since Saturday.

He was last seen leaving a bar in Akron, not too far from where he lives. Cheri Van Dyke said it’s not like her son to not call or text, and each day without him is terrifying.

“It’s like Jorry just fell off the face of the earth. There’s no sign of him,” said Dan Warner, Van Dyke’s boyfriend.

“He’s been missing for seven days,” Van Dyke said.

Palm was last seen leaving Tiny’s Tavern in Akron. Van Dyke and Warner said two men and a woman were in the bar that night that no one knew, not even the bartender. Palm texted a friend, saying he was leaving.

“He walks out and a few seconds later, those three walk out, and he never made it home,” Van Dyke said.

Van Dyke said she just learned her son took money out of the ATM.

“He may have been coerced to get the money out for these people because they followed him out and we haven’t seen him since then,” Van Dyke said.

She said it’s uncommon to not hear from her son. The Akron Police Department is investigating the case and have labeled it as a “suspicious missing person.”

“In interviewing the family, friends and co-workers, this is not consistent with his normal behavior,” said Akron Capt. Daniel Zampelli. “If he’s not going to show up for work, he’d call and let them know. He checks in with friends. They go back and forth. So on and so forth. This is out of the ordinary for him to be gone this long without being in contact with family or friends.”

“It’s terrifying not knowing where my baby is at,” Van Dyke said.

“It’s almost like I’m waiting for a ride that’s never coming,” Warner said.

Palm is 5′-7″, weighs 180 pounds and has blonde hair and blue eyes.

“It’s like I’m lost, my heart is empty,” Van Dyke said.

“To me, he’s my son, and I want my son home,” Warner said.

Palm’s car, a 2007 red Mazda Z-6, Ohio License plate FDX 3947 also is missing.
