Peachtree City police on Saturday were seeking a motive from a 19-year-old janitorial worker charged with setting fires at Kedron Fieldhouse and Acquatic Center, which serves as the city’s recreation department.
Robert Earl Striggles, 19, of Palmetto, had not talked to police as of Friday, Capt. Rosanna Dove said. “We know from video footage it is definitely him,” she said.
Striggles worked for a janitorial service that cleans the building at night. Police charged him with felony arson, burglary and interference with government property in the setting of two fires Thursday.

Sprinkler systems were activated, flooding the building, and the fires did not spread. The building’s alarm system, however, did not go off and the damage was not discovered until workers arrived Thursday morning.
City staff investigated whether a possible electrical problem prevented the alarm system from immediately alerting emergency responders when the fire began.
The building was closed while crews worked to clean up damage resulting from the fires and water.
The city wants to get the center operational as quickly as possible so recreational activities, such as scheduled swim meets, can proceed, Dove said.
The investigation is continuing.
