Wrongful Death Volunteers Still Searching for Keith Goldberg’s Body

LAS VEGAS – Police say he was murdered in cold blood, but his body was never found. Friday night, volunteers again searched the mountains east of Las Vegas to find where Keith Goldberg may be buried.

It’s said you can learn a lot about someone by walking a mile in their shoes. Red Rock Search and Rescue volunteers have put a lot of wear on their shoes. They have trekked approximately 50 square miles near Sunrise Mountain during the last ten weeks in their effort to find the body of Keith Goldberg.

David Cummings is commanding this all-volunteer operation.

“It’s a needle in a haystack,” he said. “We know the subjects were out here for six hours total the day his body was, we assume, dumped out here.”

Metro Homicide detectives suspect Goldberg’s body could be somewhere in this area. Cell phone tower records show the suspects, Christopher and Georgene “Cookie” Ross, were in the area for six hours February 1. Authorities say this crime was the violent result of a love triangle.

Volunteers drive where they can and hike through miles of desert.

“We just want to look for anything that’s out of place, rocks moved, signs that maybe somebody’s been somewhere that they wouldn’t normally be,” said volunteer Valarie Nardone.

Searchers dig in suspicious areas, pushing themselves in the hot desert so this case will never go cold.

“They keep coming out here. They bring their heart every time they’re out there,” said Red Rock Search and Rescue Vice Commander Dana Richardson. “They have a passion for this, and they come out here. They sweat. They get beat up and do a lot of good, and every single one of our missions is one hundred percent successful, because if we don’t find what we’re looking for, we find where they’re not.”

They believe they aren’t far from Keith Goldberg, and they vow his body will be returned home to his loving family.

“We’re going to find him. We’re not going to quit until we find him. We don’t quit,” Cummings said.

Goldberg’s accused killers remain in the Clark County Detention Center. Bail for each is set at $145,000. The couple is due in court in mid-August.
