Wrongful Death Man Kills WIfe for $1M in Insurance

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities say a Columbia man killed his wife to get $1 million in insurance money, then killed his partner in an illegal gambling business to try to pin the homicide on him.

Prosecutors revealed more details about the April killings at an upscale suburban Columbia home just before a judge denied bond for 42-year-old Brett Parker during a hearing Thursday. Parker was charged last week with two counts of murder.

Prosecutors say Parker was $600,000 in debt and was having two affairs when he killed his 44-year-old wife, Tammy. Authorities say Parker then used a second gun to kill his gambling business partner, 46-year-old Bryan Capnerhurst.

Parker’s attorney calls the accusations by prosecutors ridiculous and says Parker killed Capnerhurst in self-defense after Capnerhurst killed his wife.
