Pedphile Tracking Sting Nabs 17 Men in Wisconsin

Six men in Madison and 11 other men around Wisconsin were arrested in a three-day Internet child sex sting conducted last week, authorities reported.

The state Attorney General’s Office announced the results of Operation Black Veil in a news release Monday morning.

The large-scale Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) operation targeted online predators who were soliciting children for the purpose of engaging in sexually explicit conduct, the Attorney General’s Office said.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The sting used classified ads online to get the alleged predators interested in meeting the “teens,” with law enforcement arresting the suspects when they showed up at the meeting place.

The operation took place Tuesday through Thursday.

The six men arrested in Madison were Charles Zimmerman, 36, of Poynette, tentatively charged with trafficking of a child; Timothy Marking, 49, of DeForest, tentatively charged with trafficking of a child and child enticement; Marc Marion, 55, of Madison, tentatively charged with use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime; Jeremy Stegall, 29, of Fitchburg, tentatively charged with use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime; Douglas Crueger, 34, of Coloma, tentatively charged with solicitation of a prostitute; and Timothy Belz, 18, of Sun Prairie, tentatively charged with use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and solicitation of a prostitute.

Other arrests were made in Green Bay, Minoqua, Wausau, Kenosha, Appleton and Shawano.

“Policing the Internet for those who wish to exploit children presents unique challenges for law enforcement in areas of investigative resources, forensic technology and jurisdictional boundaries,” the release said.

Law enforcement agencies taking part in the sting included Sheriff’s Offices from Brown, Door, Dane, Kewaunee, Oconto, Marinette, Marathon and Outagamie Counties; Police Departments from Madison, Ashwaubenon, Sturgeon Bay, Minoqua, Kenosha and Shawano; the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office.

Arson Investigation Fire at Abandoned Lexington Home

A fire broke out at an abandoned home on West Second Street Sunday evening. Investigators haven’t released a cause yet, but neighbors say it appears to be suspicious.

“I heard the fire sirens initially and looked outside and saw smoke and so I came outside,” says David Stephenson who lives next door to the home. “This house has been vacant for almost the entire time I’ve lived here. I’ve lived here for 6 years and its been vacant the entire time.”

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

The fire is a cause for concern for folks who live in the area. What could possibly start a fire in an empty home? Arson investigators were on scene looking into the fire but at this point they won’t say if it was intentionally set or not. Firefighters also say the home was recently condemned.

“It’s a shame because this area is up and coming lately. It was downtrodden for the first 3 years I’ve lived here but it’s coming back now,” says Stephenson.

No nearby homes were damaged and no one was hurt.

Accident Reconstruction Police Pursuit Ends in Fatal Crash in Somerset

The Somerset Police Department is investigating a fatal accident that occurred Saturday night.

At 9:58 PM, a Pulaski County sheriff’s deputy noticed a 1998 black Nissan passenger car, driven by Justin Litton, age 36, of Somerset parked at a closed business on West KY 80 without its headlamps on. When the deputy turned to check out the situation, Litton pulled out and went eastbound on KY 80. A short distance later, Litton’s vehicle crossed the centerline just west of the WTLO Road intersection and struck a white 2005 Suzuki head-on. The Suzuki was driven by Levi Stephens, age 33, also of Somerset, which had been westbound on KY 80.

http://liarcatchers.com/accident_reconstruction.html

The impact trapped both drivers in their vehicles and sent Stephens’ vehicle off the road where it came to rest on the north side of the highway.

A helicopter from Air Methods airlifted Litton from the scene to the University of Kentucky Hospital. Stephens was transported by ambulance to the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.

Traffic on West KY 80 was blocked for about three hours as the SPD Accident Reconstruction Unit conducted their on-scene investigation.

Officers were assisted at the scene by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office, the Somerset-Pulaski County EMS, the Somerset Fire Department, and the Somerset-Pulaski County Haz-Mat Special Response Team.

The investigation is continuing and investigators are looking into alcohol involvement as a contributing factor.
