Missing Person Gabriel Lorette-Smith of San Jose, CA

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help in locating 22-year-old Gabriel Lorette-Smith.

Smith, a student at San Jose State University, was last seen camping in Henry Cowell State Park southwest of Scotts Valley.

Lorette-Smith graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School in Felton in 2010. He currently lives in San Jose, according to sheriff’s deputy April Skalland.

Anyone with information on Lorette-Smith’s whereabouts is asked to call the Santa Cruz Sheriff at (831) 471-1121.

This is the second missing person search in Henry Cowell this month. Matthew Abraham, 20, disappeared from his Scotts Valley home last week after suffering a head injury while mountain biking. The search focused on Henry Cowell because Abraham had been talking about the park, but Abraham had actually boarded an eastbound bus. He was found safe at Salt Lake City Public Library on Friday.

Drug Dog Sweep 30 lbs of Opium Found at O’Hare International

A drug dog checking shipments at the International Mail Facility near O’Hare International Airport hit on packages Monday afternoon containing more than 30 pounds of opium-soaked materials valued at almost $500,000.

The 8-year-old canine, Shadow, a Belgian Malinois, alerted U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers to four different shipments from Laos destined for Wisconsin and Minnesota.

http://liarcatchers.com/drugdogsweeps.html

While border protection officers often run across drug shipments, they’re usually not of this magnitude, said Brian Bell, chief CBP officer.

“We see them regularly. We just don’t see them in these quantities,” Bell said. “And we don’t have (Shadow) hit on four different shipments all in a row like this.”

The first package, invoiced as Hmong dresses, actually contained 38 pieces of decorative cloth soaked in opium. The fabric weighed just over 15 pounds and is valued at more than $238,000.

Another package contained 10 pieces of fabric just under 5 pounds, valued at almost $77,000.

Two other packages labeled traditional medicines contained sticks and leaves soaked in opium and were valued at almost $98,000 and $77,000.

Opium is considered a traditional medicine within the Laotian community. The cloths, sticks and leaves would be boiled in water, leaving behind an opium paste that could then be smoked.

“It’s possible that this was going to somebody who wanted to use it for its traditional reasons, but it’s illegal in the United States, therefore, we’re responsible for preventing it from coming in,” Bell said.

The CBP’s investigative unit will continue looking into the packages’ final destinations.

In addition to drug canines, the CBP officers work alongside canines who sniff out illegal agricultural items that could hurt the economy, weapon canines who detect explosives and guns, and currency detection dogs that can sniff out large quantities of undeclared money.

Missing Person Jamie Wilkes of Meridian, Mississippi

A Meridian family is making a plea for help in locating their missing loved one. Jamie Wilkes, who’s 34 and a mother of four, has been missing since March 2nd.

Wilkes was last seen around 3 PM on that day. At the time she was seen walking alone down 64th Avenue from her mother-in-law’s house. Jamie is bi-polar and suffers from schizophrenia. Her loved ones say it was not unusual for Jamie to take walks alone.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Around 30 minutes after leaving the house Jamie was allegedly spotted on 5th. Street.

‘I found a guy who had seen her on 5th Street who said she was talking to herself and he thought she was high. She would talk to herself when she was off her ‘meds’,” says Jamie’s husband, Justin Wilkes.

Since last seeing her, Jamie’s father says the family has learned that Jamie had not been taking her required medication for almost a month.

‘She needs her ‘meds’ bad,” says Bubba Bryant.

Around 5:30 on March 2nd. Jamie was allegedly spotted in the Meridian Crossroads Shopping Center walking near Chili’s restaurant toward the Honey Baked Ham Store. That’s the last report of her being spotted.

Also, in the middle portion of her ear they say that she would always wear a very small hoop earring that was perhaps dark silver in color. Plus, all of Jamie’s teeth were recently removed. When she left, they say she was not wearing the bottom set.

“I’m a single father with four little girls. I can’t replace the mother. I lost my best friend. I just want to know that she’s ok,” says Justin Wilkes.

“Jamie baby, you’ve got two little kids at home that keep asking for you and we’re running out of stuff to tell’em about where you are,” says Bryant. “So Jamie, please come home. We love you and we want you home.”

Jamie Wilkes is 5 “2” and 115 pounds. She has multiple tattoos and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark gray racing hoodie with a checkered design and black and gray tennis shoes with a bright pink stripe. Identity Theft Suspects Arrested in Fresno

A stolen luxury car leads police to a team of identity theft and burglary suspects.

It started Monday around noon when a woman spotted a car pulling up to her neighbor’s home near the area of Peach and Church in Southeast Fresno.

The suspects broke in and started ransacking the home.

Investigators say they were not just robbing the home but were also looking to steal identities.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

Sgt. Tim Tietjen with the Fresno Police Department said, “As they go through the house they actually are going to take anything computers or paperwork with your identities on them.”

The suspects loaded the stolen merchandise into a convertible BMW parked in the garage.

The suspects drove off in the stolen car but were soon arrested.

Officers see a pattern. The big thing that they’re getting from these cars is the computers where you have your personal information on there, and they’re using that information for credit cards, whatever they do for identity theft.

A man and three juveniles were taken in to custody.

Police believe they may be linked to other burglaries in the area.

Fresno police say you should call if you see any suspicious activity in your neighborhood.

Pedophile Tracking Palm Desert, CA Man Arrested in Sting

A Palm Desert, Calif., man who is accused of arranging to meet a 13-year-old girl for sex in Henderson is scheduled to appear in federal court later this month for a preliminary hearing.

Michael Steven Goldman, 58, was arrested Jan. 9 by Henderson Police following an undercover operation that ended at Sunset Station.

Goldman is facing charges of traveling to engage in unlawful sexual activity, coercion and enticement and transporting child pornography, according to a complaint filed Jan. 10 in Nevada’s U.S. District Court.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The complaint outlined the following alleged events that led to Goldman’s arrest:

On Jan. 4, Goldman began communicating with an undercover officer on a website with chatting abilities for those interested in deviant sexual behavior. The detective works for Henderson Police, investigates computer crimes and is a member of the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force.

In an “incest” chat room, Goldman, identified at the time only by his username “mcsterd,” asked the undercover officer if he had an interest in being sexually active with his daughter.

At that point, the undercover officer told Goldman they should communicate via email, so Goldman provided a Gmail address and confirmed his name was “Mickey.”

Through email, the undercover officer introduced himself as “Tom” and stated he had a promiscuous 13-year-old daughter named “Tanya.” As the conversation progressed, Goldman asked for a picture of the daughter.

When the undercover officer asked Goldman if he was interested in “CP” — code for child pornography — Goldman emailed a file containing three images of child pornography involving young girls.

The undercover officer offered to trade his daughter for Goldman’s collection of child pornography. Goldman agreed and said he could get together “anytime … soon.”

They continued conversing over email for several days, and Goldman made more inquiries about the teenage daughter, including her feelings about performing oral sex.

On Jan. 7, the undercover officer pretended to be the fictional 13-year-old and exchanged more emails with Goldman, who traveled to Las Vegas from California later that day.

Goldman and the undercover officer made arrangements to meet the morning of Jan. 9 at Sunset Station, where Goldman had purchased a room.

Goldman told the undercover officer, “Tanya is your gift … I feel honored that you both trust me to get to know each other … your trust will not be misused.”

The officer replied that he was glad Goldman could be a “teacher and mentor for her to be a sexual woman.”

When the two met at a Starbucks in the hotel, Goldman handed the undercover officer the promised thumb drive containing child pornography.

That’s when a team of plainclothes officers at the scene emerged and took Goldman into custody.

During interviews with detectives, Goldman would not admit that he was at the hotel to have sex with “Tanya.”

But when asked if a sexual encounter was possible if the two had gotten along, Goldman replied “maybe.” He also admitted to viewing and being sexually aroused by child pornography for the past year.

Goldman’s preliminary hearing has been delayed four times because of ongoing discussions for a resolution of the case, according to court documents. On March 8, U.S. Magistrate Judge George Foley approved the fourth continuance and reset the preliminary hearing for March 25.

Court records indicate Goldman remains in federal custody. He has retained defense attorneys Dayvid Figler and Kristina Wildeveld to represent him.

Missing Person Moses Frank Saiz of Yermo, CA

A Yermo man in need of medication hasn’t been seen or heard from since fleeing his home during the pre-dawn hours of last Thursday, according to his wife.

Moses Frank Saiz, 31, was in the midst of an episode brought forth by an undisclosed mental illness when family members attempted to take him to the hospital for treatment, Andrea Saiz said.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

He left the home between 4:30 and 5 a.m. when he learned family had called police, she explained.

“He stayed up all night and the later he stayed up, the worse (his condition) got,” she said.

Later that day, Andrea Saiz filed a missing person’s report with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The Sheriff’s Department was able to confirm that a report had been filed, but the deputy who took the report could not be reached Monday.

Moses Frank Saiz, who is currently without a phone or ID, was last wearing a black striped shirt, gray sweat pants and black Adidas shoes, his wife said.

He is five feet 10 inches, weights 215 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes, according to a missing person’s flyer being distributed by family members.

He was last seen walking eastbound near Peggy Sue’s Diner in Yermo, according to the flyer.

Andrea Saiz isn’t sure where her husband may have ran off to, but she mentioned that his hometown is Atascadero near San Luis Obispo.

“I just want him to come home safely,” she said. “He needs to go to the hospital.”

Pedophile Tracking Delaware Pediatrician Gets 14 Life Terms plus

Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden closes the Earl Bradley case that horrified parents statewide.

Former Delaware pediatrician Earl Bradley’s old offices in Lewes have been destroyed, and now the state is trying to bring an end to an ugly chapter in Delaware’s history. Bradley was convicted of sexually abusing very young patients at his office, even go so far as to video tape evidence of his abuse.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Now that he’s been convicted and sentenced to 14 years in prison, Biden’s office has announced an end to the state’s prosecution of the disgraced doctor. “With his conviction and the Supreme Court’s decision this past September upholding his conviction and sentence of 14 life terms plus 164 years in prison we have ensured that he will never walk out of prison or be in a position to ever harm another child.”

Bradley’s trial was based on video evidence that was obtained in a search of offices Bradley’s property. He had claimed that the tapes were found in a location investigators were not authorized to search. That claim led to an appeal, which was denied.

There are outstanding indictments against Bradley that he has not been tried on, but Biden says the state will not pursue those cases in an effort to protect the victims. The supporting evidence for this second set of victims, made up of 24 young girls, was based on disclosures the victims made during interviews at the Delaware Child Advocacy Center.

That means a trial of Bradley’s crimes on these charges would require young victims and their parents to go on the stand in a courtroom in front of Bradley and provide details of the abuse. “We cannot expect or demand that they relive their pain and be victimized all over again,” said Biden. “We have decided that ending the remaining case by withdrawing the indictment is in the best interest of the victims and their families.”

Biden met with the victim families last week to discuss the case and his decision. “While this ends the criminal prosecution of the case, our commitment to the victims and their families does not end. My office will ensure that the victims and their families have the support and services they need for as long as they need them.”

Identity Theft 4 Arrested in El Segundo, CA

Four people suspected of running an identity theft ring were arrested when police discovered counterfeit credit cards, fake cash and drug paraphernalia at an El Segundo hotel, police said Monday.

Another man was sought Monday in connection with the alleged crimes, El Segundo police Lt. Jaime Bermudez said.

The arrests occurred Thursday when police opened an investigation into activities at an El Segundo hotel room rented by 28-year-old Ryan Stirling, Bermudez said. Police did not identify the hotel.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

Officers served a search warrant on the room, finding a credit card embosser, blank credit cards, counterfeit cash, dangerous drugs and paperwork listing victims’ personal financial information, Bermudez said.

Stirling was not there, but during the investigation, four other people arrived at the room. Arrested were Alexa Garrido, 31; Tony Dennis, 43; Morgan Ryan, 33; and Joey Lizarraga, 29, who ditched a gun and ran. Officers tracked him down and took him into custody, Bermudez said.

The loaded gun was recently stolen in Henderson, Nev., he said.

Lizarraga and Stirling were released early from jail early under the state’s realignment program to reduce prison overcrowding, and were wanted on probation violations, Bermudez said.

Each has an extensive record involving drugs, fraud, theft and violent offenses, police said.

Dennis is on probation for narcotics violations and assault. Garrido was released on bail three days earlier from another arrest, police said.
