Missing Person Former FBI Turned PI Seeks 6 Yr Missing Man

A retired FBI agent has taken up the cause of a missing local man who disappeared more than six years ago, seemingly vanished without a trace.

Adam Kellner, 39, of Stevenson Ranch, was last seen around 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 7, 2007, according to his mother, Sherrill Britton.

“It just struck me as, ‘Hey, I want to help this family,’ I’m truly interested in helping if I can,” said Mary Hogan, a retired agent who worked on the Joint Task Force on Terrorism in the Los Angeles office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

After more than two and a half decades with the agency, she retired and took classes to become a licensed private investigator a little more than a year ago.

Every year, she picks one case that grabs her interest and works it pro bono. The former agent turned investigator said she’s not doing it for the publicity. She doesn’t even have a website.

She’s just looking to help a fellow family in the community where she lives.

“I remember hearing about it way back when,” she said of the Kellner case.

“I got in touch with Sherrill Britton, the mother, and she was receptive,” she said. “It’s an interesting case and it’s sad that there’s been no leads developed on it.”

Adam Christopher Kellner, is described as a white male who’s 5-feet, 7-inches tall, 165 pounds, brown hair with a bald spot near the back of his head and brown eyes.

He suffers from schizophrenia, but not a form of the disease that causes violent tendencies, Hogan said.

He was not a paranoid schizophrenic, his mother said. But his voices were not violent, they were comforting. They were not something that made him fearful.

“He was not in a psychotic episode when he disappeared,” Britton said. “He was stable.”

It was very unusual for Kellner to take off for a number of reasons, she said.

“He wouldn’t have wanted his mother to worry. That’s the kind of son he was,” Britton said. “He was also very isolated.”

Kellner moved to the area with his family in 2001. He had jobs in his past, but wasn’t able to hold one down by the time he moved to the SCV.

“He didn’t really interact with people. He didn’t really leave the house,” Britton said.

He had taken off before, but he didnt really leave the house often. He knew how to take the bus. Once in a while he would go down to Richard Rioux Park.

“We had some initial leads that he might be down at Skid Row, and we spent weeks and months down there searching,” Britton said. “But I didn’t give him money. He didn’t have an ID, a driver’s license, he didn’t have any credit cards. Nothing was taken from the house.”

“But no we’ve had nothing since that supposed sighting on Skid Row,” Britton said.

“After such a long time, you’re thankful that people care enough, it’s been very hard to get any publicity,” she said.

There are two Facebook groups the family has created. Click here and here for more information.

His family is very concerned and also asking for the public’s assistance. Any information, please contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, Missing Person’s Detail, at 323-890-5500.

Investigators believe Smith was attempting to obtain Nick’s certified birth certificate. Initially agents were uncertain if the suspect actually believed she was Nick or attempting to fraudulently capture Nick’s identity.

Nick was six-years-old when she was abducted from an Alma baseball park on June 9, 1995. The case remains unsolved.

Arkansas State Police along with Alma Police officers continue to assign personnel to investigate new leads in the girl’s disappearance.

Missing Person Body of Copake, NY Man Found

The search for a 77-year-old man who was reported missing Thursday night ended when the man’s body was found in a wooded area in Hillsdale early this morning.

Columbia County Sheriff David Harrison Jr. reported that around 9:15 p.m. Thursday, Sheriff’s Patrols received a report that Roger W. Moody of Snyder Pond Road in the town of Copake was missing. The report was made by his son, who resides in New York City, when he was contacted by his father’s friends and told that his father had not attended a dinner party the night before at a home in Hillsdale.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

After receiving the report, Sheriff’s Patrols determined that Moody and his vehicle were not at his residence in Copake. A missing person investigation began which included going to nearby residences, interviewing friends and associates and entering Moody’s personal information and the description of his vehicle into the statewide law enforcement network as a possible missing person.

At approximately midnight, information was received that vehicle lights had been seen the night of the dinner party at a part-time residence in the same area in Hillsdale that was not occupied the evening of the party.

Sheriff’s Patrols went to the residence and located Moody’s vehicle, which had driven off the driveway and appeared to be been stuck. Moody was not with his vehicle. Deputy Sheriff’s, including Deputy Heath Benansky and his K9 partner Apollo, began searching the wooded area around the residence and found Moody’s body at about 2:03 a.m.

Along with Deputy Sheriffs Bernard Roberts, Thomas Bagnall, Kelly Briscoe and Benansky with Apollo, Capt. David Bartlett, Investigator Anthony Brahm and Coroner Roberta Davis also responded to the scene.

At this time, Moody’s death does not appear to be suspicious, authorities stated. A press release issued by the Sheriff’s Office stated, “Investigators feel that Mr. Moody may have driven to the wrong residence when going to the dinner party and became stuck in the driveway. He then exited his vehicle and became disoriented when walking in the nearby wooded area. Not wearing a jacket or boots, it appears that Mr. Woody experienced a medical problem.”

The cause of Moody’s death will be determined after review by Davis and Forensic Pathologist Dr. Jeffrey Hubbard.

Insurance Fraud 2 Minneapolis Women Sentenced

Two Minneapolis women were sentenced to prison Wednesday for fraudulently cashing in more than $1 million worth of life insurance policies at a company one of them worked for.

Angela Madison and Tracy Jackson, both 42, were sentenced in U.S. District Court in St. Paul to one count each of aiding and abetting mail fraud. Madison was sentenced to 35 months in prison and was ordered to pay just over $1.6 million in restitution, and Jackson received 27 months and was ordered to pay roughly $1.1 million.

http://liarcatchers.com/insurance_fraud.html

According to her plea agreement, Madison worked as a policy plan and service coordinator for ING Life Insurance. Between 2003 and 2012, she fraudulently cashed in life insurance policies for clients, including Jackson, and the checks — 196 in total — were either mailed to Jackson or given to her after Madison intercepted them. Jackson then split the money with Madison.

Both women pleaded guilty last year.
